The Lagos State Government has announced an eight-hour road closure and traffic diversion plan for the upcoming Lagos City Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, February 15, 2025. The event will take place from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., during which several major routes will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic. Motorists are advised to plan ahead and explore alternative routes.

State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, outlined the marathon route, starting from the National Stadium in Surulere. The race will proceed along Ikorodu Road towards Anthony (Bertola), pass through Gbagada to access the Third Mainland Bridge, and continue inbound to Lagos Island.

From there, runners will move through Dolphin Road to Alfred Rewane Road, then proceed to Falomo Roundabout, Bourdillon Road, and the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, connecting to Admiralty Way. The race will then extend through Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, continue via Akin Adesola, and conclude at Ahmadu Bello Way, Eko Atlantic.

To ensure smooth coordination, all adjoining roads, junctions, and intersections along the marathon route will be blocked using concrete barriers and monitored by officials from LASTMA, the Nigeria Police Force, FRSC, LSNC, and other relevant agencies.
