NANS and Niger Delta Students Commend PTDF for World-Class College in Kaduna

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and Niger Delta students have lauded the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Ahmed Galadima Aminu, for his pivotal role in establishing the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Kaduna. The students, who were on a fact-finding tour of the college, hailed its world-class facilities and its potential to enhance the manpower required in Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
Hon. Sunday Asefon, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagement, who led the students, expressed strong confidence in the PTDF’s commitment to delivering a world-class institution. Asefon assured Nigerians that the college is equipped with all the necessary facilities for quality postgraduate studies.
“I am confident that the PTDF has done Nigeria proud with this massive project. I am sure the President will commend the Executive Secretary for his efforts in bringing this vision to life,” said Asefon. He went on to praise the safe environment in Kaduna, crediting Governor Uba Sani for making the state a secure place for learning.
The Senior Special Assistant emphasized the importance of utilizing local educational institutions such as the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, urging Nigerians to consider domestic postgraduate opportunities over studying abroad. He expressed his belief that with the security improvements in Kaduna, parents could now confidently send their children to study in the state.
Hajiya Amina Sani Bello, an aide to Governor Uba Sani on student engagement, added that it was an honor to have the college situated in Kaduna. She assured that the state government was working in synergy with security agencies to maintain safety and security across the region.
The PTDF’s Executive Secretary highlighted the ongoing upgrades of several departments in Nigerian universities, including Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Gas Engineering, and Geology, in collaboration with the government. The upgrades not only involve the construction of new facilities but also the installation of modern IT equipment, furnishings, and solar power, ensuring the institutions are well-equipped for academic excellence.
The PTDF’s initiatives represent significant progress in domesticating oil and gas-related education and ensuring that Nigerian professionals are competitive on the global stage.
