FGGC Benin Principal Summoned Over Alleged Sexual Harassment Case Involving Teacher

The Federal Ministry of Education has summoned the principal of Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Benin City, to Abuja for further clarification regarding allegations of sexual harassment against a teacher, Mr. Jatto.
The summons follows the submission of an investigative panel’s report, which exonerated the teacher, stating that the case was one of strict classroom management rather than sexual misconduct.
In an official statement released on Thursday, Boriowo Folasade, Director of Press and Public Relations at the ministry, confirmed that investigations are still ongoing despite the panel’s initial findings.
“Following a thorough review, it has been established that the case in question is not one of sexual harassment but an issue of high-handedness in classroom management, which was initially misrepresented,” the statement read.
According to the ministry, preliminary findings revealed that Mr. Jatto was supervising prep when the incident occurred and was addressing a rowdy classroom situation.
However, as part of the continued investigation, the principal has been summoned to Abuja for further clarification.
The ministry urged the public to remain patient while the inquiry continues, assuring that transparency and the integrity of educational institutions remain a top priority.
