Citigroup Launches AI Tools to Boost Staff Efficiency in Hong Kong

Citigroup has unveiled a new suite of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, called Citi AI, aimed at improving employee productivity across its Hong Kong operations. The move is part of the bank’s wider strategy to modernize its internal processes using cutting-edge technology.
The AI tools are designed to assist staff with everyday tasks; from retrieving information from internal policy documents to summarizing complex reports and drafting professional emails. Tools like Citi Assist and Citi Stylus make it easier for employees to access accurate information quickly and handle communications more efficiently.
Currently, about 150,000 Citi employees in 11 countries (including the U.S., India, and Singapore) have access to the tools, with plans to extend the rollout to more markets in the near future.
The launch also supports Hong Kong’s ongoing push to promote responsible AI use in the banking sector, as encouraged by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority.
This announcement comes shortly after Citigroup’s restructuring move in China, where up to 200 IT contractors were let go in favor of strengthening in-house risk management and data governance teams.
By introducing Citi AI, the bank is not just adopting new technology, it’s also signaling a shift toward a smarter, more responsive workforce in today’s fast-paced financial world.
