2025 NDLEA Promotes and Decorates Seven Deputy Commanders in Edo

The Edo State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mitchell Ofoyeju, on Friday decorated seven officers recently elevated to the rank of Deputy Commander of Narcotics. The promotion was approved by the agency’s Chairman/Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), CON.
In a statement sent, Ofoyeju said the decoration ceremony, held at the Command’s headquarters in Benin City, was filled with pride, joy, and renewed dedication to the fight against drug abuse and trafficking.
Those promoted include Timothy Nku Odu, James Olusola Olarewaju, Akpabio Akpan, Anthony Odu Oko, Fidelis Nkazi Heijirika, Paul Akhazee, and Mohammed Danmusa.
Addressing the officers, Ofoyeju described their elevation as both recognition of past service and a call to greater responsibility. “The elevation of these officers strengthens our operational capacity and reinforces the agency’s resolve to curb drug-related crimes in Edo State. I congratulate you and urge you to remain courageous and dogged in your duties,” he said.
He further expressed confidence in the team’s ability to meet evolving challenges in law enforcement, stressing that the NDLEA remains resolute in upholding the rule of law and safeguarding the public from the dangers of illicit substances.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Nku pledged their loyalty and commitment. “To whom much is given, much is expected. We are grateful for this promotion and will continue to give our best in service to the nation,” he assured.
