Troops of Operation Fasan Yamma have killed a notorious terrorist leader, Yellow Danbokklo, following a weeklong military operation in the North West.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, confirmed the development in a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja.

According to Kangye, the operation was carried out in collaboration with Hybrid Forces, air support, and other security agencies, following credible intelligence on the movement of fleeing bandits and terrorists.

“During the operation, Yellow Danbokklo, a notorious terror kingpin responsible for years of violence in Eastern Sokoto, sustained severe gunshot wounds during an intense exchange of fire with our troops,” Kangye said.

The terror leader later succumbed to his injuries on Monday.

Danbokklo, believed to be even more feared than notorious bandit Bello Turji, was reportedly behind the December 2021 attack in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, where travellers were set ablaze in a gruesome incident.

Kangye revealed that the slain kingpin was known to rely heavily on pentazocine injections to fuel his reign of terror and violent activities.

He further disclosed that troops have intensified efforts to track down Bello Turji, who remains in hiding.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria remains committed to restoring peace and security across the country and urges Nigerians to cooperate with security agencies in this mission,” he added.
