Bitcoin Reaches Record High of Over $109,000

Bitcoin Surges Past $87,000 as Crypto Market Sees Major Gains

Bitcoin soared to a record-breaking $109,241 on Monday, fueled by anticipation of Donald Trump’s inauguration as U.S. President. Trump, who has hinted at plans to deregulate the cryptocurrency industry, is set to take office soon. Following this surge, Bitcoin’s value slightly receded to $107,765 by 7:40 AM GMT.

The cryptocurrency has seen a significant rise since Trump’s electoral victory in November, breaching the $100,000 mark for the first time in early December. Bitcoin’s dramatic ascent continues to draw global attention, spotlighting both its potential and the risks associated with the volatile digital asset space.

Originally created in 2008 by an anonymous entity known as Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin was designed to offer a decentralized alternative to traditional financial systems. Despite its innovative premise, Bitcoin has faced criticism for its role in enabling untraceable transactions on the dark web and its use in criminal activities like money laundering and ransomware schemes.

Moreover, Bitcoin’s environmental impact has come under fire, as the process of mining cryptocurrencies demands substantial energy consumption, contributing to a significant carbon footprint.
