Enugu State Government Partners with Fungtai Engineering and NCAN to Boost Agriculture and Employment

The Enugu State Government, led by Governor Peter Mbah, has signed two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at boosting the state’s agricultural sector, enhancing security, and creating job opportunities.
In the first agreement with Fungtai Engineering Ltd., the two parties will cultivate cash crops on 7,221 hectares of land in Ugwujoro, Nimbo, located in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area. This initiative aligns with Governor Mbah’s vision to ramp up agriculture and agro-industrialization in the state.
In a second agreement, the state government partnered with the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN) to establish a pre-fabricated Domestic Export Warehouse at the Enugu State Polytechnic in Iwollo, covering 5 hectares of land. Governor Mbah highlighted the importance of local cashew processing, which will boost the state’s GDP and create significant employment opportunities.
Dr. Ojo Joseph Ajanaku, National President of NCAN, assured the governor of reliable and timely delivery, adding that the partnership would maximize Enugu’s cashew production potential. He also expressed interest in helping to revitalize the Premier Cashew Industry Limited in Akama Oghe, a key step in the state’s agricultural transformation.
