President Tinubu Appoints Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu as NYSC Director-General

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu as the new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), effective immediately.
Brigadier General Nafiu, an experienced artillery officer from Ileogbo in Osun State, is a graduate of both the Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the U.S. Army War College. He has previously served in high-level roles, including as Chief of Staff to the current and late Chiefs of Army Staff, and most recently as a Directing Staff at the Army War College, Nigeria.
His appointment comes at a time when the NYSC faces multiple challenges, including mounting concerns over the non-payment of the approved N77,000 monthly allowance for corps members. Stakeholders hope that Brigadier General Nafiu’s military background and proven leadership will help restore confidence in the agency and address these pressing issues.
Brigadier General Nafiu succeeds Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed and is expected to spearhead reforms aimed at improving administrative efficiency, accountability, and the overall welfare of corps members. Observers are optimistic that his leadership will enhance the NYSC’s role in national development and youth empowerment.
