Troops Neutralise Dozens of Terrorists in Borno, Yobe, Recover Weapons

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have killed scores of Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in a series of coordinated operations across Borno and Yobe States, a military source has confirmed.
Repelled Night Attack in Borno
On August 22, terrorists launched a large-scale nighttime assault on a Forward Operating Base at Kumshe, Borno State, manned by the 21 Special Armoured Brigade.
According to the source, the insurgents came in large numbers with assorted weapons but were overwhelmed by fierce ground resistance and precision airstrikes from the Nigerian Air Force.
“Exploitation after the encounter revealed more than 20 bodies of neutralised terrorists, including dismembered remains hastily buried in shallow graves. Weapons were also recovered,” the source said.
Firefight in Bama Axis
Also on August 22, Sector 1 troops conducted offensive operations at Dipchari near Banki Junction, Bama Local Government Area, where they engaged terrorists in a heavy firefight.
Recovered items included:
- One Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube
- Two AK-47 rifles
- Two magazines
- 16 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition
- Two motorcycles
Long-Range Raid in Yobe
On August 23, Sector 2 troops, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force, carried out a long-range operation around Ndoksa near Buni Gari, Yobe State. Several terrorists were neutralised, while troops recovered one AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles.
Impact of Operations
The source noted that the coordinated offensives have significantly degraded the terrorists’ firepower, disrupted their logistics chains, and strengthened military dominance across the region.
“These operations are part of sustained efforts to deny Boko Haram and ISWAP freedom of action in the North East,” he added.
