MTN Partners with UK’s Synamedia to Launch New Streaming Platform Across Africa

MTN Group, Africa’s largest mobile network operator, has announced a new strategic partnership with UK-based video software company, Synamedia. The goal? To create a powerful streaming platform specifically designed for African audiences using mobile and fibre networks.
This new platform will offer a mix of live TV and video-on-demand content, allowing MTN subscribers to enjoy entertainment on the go or at home. What makes it even more exciting is its flexible viewing model: users can access content via subscriptions, ad-supported streams, or for free with targeted ads.
MTN says the platform will be tailored to fit the tastes and preferences of each local market, providing relevant content in familiar languages and styles. With over 290 million subscribers across 16 African countries, MTN is positioning itself as a serious player in Africa’s fast-growing digital entertainment space.
This move sets MTN on a competitive path alongside regional giants like Showmax and global platforms such as Netflix and Disney+. It’s a major step toward transforming how Africans consume video content.
